06/29/2012 – MVC with entrapment – “C” Shift

Incident # 12-03459 – A two car accident at 776 Bells Highway sent one man to the hospital. The accident occurred Friday at 11:57 when one vehicle pulled into the path of a west bound Chevrolet Envoy. The car received several inches of intrusion. The driver suffered multiple complaints and what appeared to be non-life threatening traumatic injuries. Due to his complaints, it was not possible to remove him through the passenger side. Firefighter-Paramedics used Holmatro Rescue Tools to remove the two driver’s side doors and “B” post. The patient was removed on a KED with full spinal pre-cautions. He was transported to Colleton Medical Center for further treatment. The driver of the Envoy did not request ambulance transportation. Walterboro Public Safety is investigating the crash.

Medic 9, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. Walterboro Engine 2 and Engine 3 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic (Acting Battalion Chief Brian Rowe) served as Incident Commander.
