Incident # 12-03591 – One man was flown to a Trauma Center following a collision between a small car and a tractor trailer on I-95. The accident occurred near the 59 mile marker northbound. The small car received heavy damage and the driver’s side “A” post was severed in half. The semi-conscious male driver suffered a suspected head injury. Debris from the car littered the northbound lanes for an 1/8 of a mile causing some traffic delays. The car went off of the road, coming to rest in the ditch. The tractor trailer stopped in the breakdown lane just north of the car. The driver of the truck was not injured. Firefighter-Paramedics briefly treated the man at the scene, then transported him to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the Life Net 4 helicopter. The patient was transferred without incident, then flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston.

Engine 1, Medic 1, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 107 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic (Acting Battalion Chief) Brian Rowe served as Incident Commander.
