07/07/2012 – High Angle Rescue – “B” Shift

Incident # 12-03674 – A tree trimmer was left in a precarious situation after he fell from a large limb he was cutting. The incident occurred behind 7312 Hendersonville Highway at 11:26. The man’s safety harness arrested his fall, but left him hanging approximately 35 feet above the ground. The man complained of a back injury, however responders were unable to reach him. Ladder 19 was sent to the scene and cautiously maneuvered through the backyard of the residence. A fence post had to be moved for the large truck to reach a position to access the patient. Two Firefighter-Paramedics operating from the bucket were brought up under the patient. He was carefully placed in the bucket, then brought to the ground. The man was assisted off of the truck, but insisted that he did not wish to go to the hospital. Personnel evaluated him at the scene, but he denied transport to the hospital.

Engine 8, Medic 6, Rescue 1, Ladder 19, Battalion 1, Car 105 and Car 107 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
