units responded to a mutual aid request for an industrial fire at the
Georgia Pacific Mill on U.S. Highway 321 in Allendale County on Wednesday
morning 28-November at 11:51. Car 118 responded with four personnel
and arrived at 12:24 to find a very large industrial facility with smoke
showing from multi-story chip hopper. The fire was confined but
required extensive overhaul. Colleton County Fire-Rescue personnel
assisted with fire suppression efforts for over five hours using
handlines. The industry was equipped with an excellent pressurized
water supply system. There were no injuries.
