14/February/2013 – Head-on MVC – “A” Shift Incident # 13-00817 – A 43 year old truck driver and 17 yr old girl both escaped serious injuries in a head-on collision on Sniders Highway (SC Hwy 63) at Duck Hollow Lane Thursday morning 14-February at 07:26. The girl was driving a small Mazda pickup truck and struck a large International delivery truck head-on. She was wearing a seatbelt. The small pickup truck received heavy damage with deep intrusion into the vehicle. The delivery truck attempted to avoid the collision, but crossed over into the opposite ditch and overturned. Both occupants were out of the vehicles when Firefighter-Paramedics arrived. The truck driver denied any injuries, but Medic 1 transported the female to Colleton Medical Center for evaluation. Sniders Highway was blocked for over an hour due to the collision. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Witnesses advised bright sunlight could have been a contributing factor. |
