11/May/2013 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

Incident # 13-02493 – A double wide mobile home with several additions was heavily damaged in what is believed to have been an intentionally set fire Saturday evening 11-May. Fire-Rescue was notified of the incident at 18:54 reporting the residence located at 1328 Stokes Road had flames coming from the roof. Engine 26 arrived six minutes later to find the structure approximately 70% involved. Firefighters used a deck gun to knock down the fire and then used several handlines to extinguish the blaze and conduct overhaul. A second alarm was issued due to exposure problems and the need for additional personnel. Several of the adjacent out buildings suffered minor to moderate damage. Crews were on the scene for three hours. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fire and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 549-2211, the SLED Arson Hotline at 800-92-ARSON or Fire-Rescue Headquarters at 843-539-1960.

Engine 4, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 4, Tender 7, Tender 18, Tender 19, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 18, Medic 26 and Car 105 responded. Deputy Chief David Greene served as Incident Commander.
