Hello to All, Colleton County Fire-Rescue is hosting an 1153 Firefighter I course. This is the traditional format of classroom and skills held at Station 19. Please see the course description below: This course is designed to take the student to the first level of firefighter as recognized by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC). Subjects include: building construction, ropes and knots, forcible entry, ventilation, water supply, salvage, overhaul, communications, fire prevention and public fire education. Upon successful completion of written and skills testing, the firefighter will receive international recognition as a Firefighter I. Prerequisite: 1152, First Aid and CPR, Hazardous Materials Operations-level training Hours: 65 Dates: July 8 - Aug. 17 6:30-10:30 p.m. (Mon./Wed.), 9-6 p.m. (Sat.) Location: Colleton Co. The SCFA is offering a hybrid Firefighter I course. Please keep in mind, you are able to complete a majority of the classroom portion of the class from your computer. Some limited review nights and practical skill sessions will be held at the Harleyville Fire Station. Please see the course description below. 1402 NFPA Hybrid Firefighter I - This course, using online and traditional instructional methods, is designed to take the student to the first level of firefighter as recognized by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC). Portions of the class will be completed online, under the guidance of an instructor, to include supplemental instruction and the completion of skills. This course includes elements of 1152 – Fundamentals of Firefighting, and 1152 – Firefighter I.
