Colleton County Fire-Rescue

01-July-2013 – The New Station 13 Opens

Fire-Rescue opened three new fire stations in June. Construction on the three projects began in late 2012. All three were constructed by local contractor IP Builders. Two of the stations are located in the northeastern areas of the county. Station # 32 at 15238 Round O Road is in the Sidneys Community and will extend Class 4 insurance coverage to the Hiotts, Wesley Chapel, Sidneys and Chisolm Road communities. Station # 36 is located at 19576 Augusta Highway at Grubers Crossroads. This station extends Class 4 insurance coverage to the Grubers, Creeltown, northern Red Oak and mid-Augusta Highway Corridor along the Edisto River. The combined coverage of the two new stations will service approximately 1400 rural residents. The third station was constructed in the Jonesville Community in southern Colleton County. The new building located at 1477 Lowcountry Hwy replaces an aging structure in the area. It also provides spacious living quarters for Firefighter-Paramedics.

The county is the recipient of a SAFER Grant which funded the staffing for this station. Having Firefighter-Paramedics on duty in Jonesville will greatly improve response times for the southern areas of the county and the south end of Interstate 95. The station is equipped with an Engine, 3000 gallon Tender and Medic Unit.
