21/July/2013 – MVC with Air Evacuation – “C” shift

Incident # 13-03963 – A 50 year old Cottageville man received critical head injuries in a motorcycle crash at the intersection of Peirce Road and McDanieltown Road, Sunday afternoon 21-July-2013. The incident was reported at 17:46 after the cyclist lost control and reported rolled several times. He was not wearing a helmet. Firefighter-Paramedics found the man unconscious with multiple traumatic injuries. They quickly treated him at the scene and requested a medical helicopter for transport to a Trauma Center. Engine 9 set up a landing zone at the Cottageville Elementary School. Medic 9 transported the patient there to meet with LifeNet 4. The Flight Crew RSIed the patient to protect his airway and then flew the man to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Engine 9, Medic 9, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Lieutenant Ray Delonge served as Incident Commander.
