26/August/2013 – Structure Fire - Mutual Aid to Florence County

Incident # 13-04683 – A team of four Colleton County Firefighters responded to Florence County as part of the SC Firefighter Mobilization Program. Florence County Firefighters responded to 6901 Dupot Drive, for a large fire at a former Dupot factory. As the incident entered the second day of operations, a request was made to the Firefighter Mobilization for additional personnel. The first request involved firefighters from the Pee Dee and Midlands Region, with firefighters from the Lowcountry Region filling a second request. Colleton County sent one crew (B/C Scott Feather, FF/Paramedic Jack Wimberly, FF/EMT Bryon Martinson and FF/EMT Jason Benton) to work a period from 23:00 Monday to 07:00 Tuesday. They mainly operated a City of Florence Ladder Truck through the early morning hours. The crew returned to the County Tuesday. The operation saved a large portion of the building, however other area of the structure suffered heavy damage.
