06/October/2013 – Structure Fire – “B” Shift

Incident # 13-05448 - Firefighters saved a Green Pond home after a fire heavily damaged the kitchen and living room Sunday morning 06-October. At 10:53, 9-1-1 was notified of smoke coming from the home at 571 Turkey Hill Lane. Engine 6 arrived minutes later reporting flames coming from the roof in the center of the singlewide mobile home. Firefighters deployed two 1-3/4 handlines to combat the fire, containing it to the middle of the mobile home. The fire, which started in the kitchen, spread to the attic space and burned through the roof, as well as the floor. Firefighters entered the burning building and stopped the spread of flames before it reached the bedrooms on each end, saving many personal belongings. The kitchen and living room suffered heavy damage. Water supply was conducted with Tenders. Firefighters were on the scene for two hours, but investigators remained until 19:45 determining the cause of the fire. A SLED agent responded to the scene to assist in the investigation.

Engine 2, Engine 6, Tender 2, Tender 6, Tender 22, Tender 2203, Medic 6, Brush 2 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
