15/December/2013 – MVC w/ejection & Air Evac – “C”
Shift Incident # 13-06807 – A high speed MVC resulted in
three people being injured. The accident occurred on Sniders Highway
east of Mears Road, Sunday evening 15-December at 21:55. The westbound
Chevrolet S-10 Blazer left the roadway, then over-turned possibly five
times, ejecting two of the occupants. A third person in the car stated
he was wearing a seatbelt. He remained in the car and suffered only
minor injuries. The two ejected patients suffered multiple traumatic
injuries, one female with suspect critical injuries. A medical
helicopter and a second ambulance was requested. All patients were
treated at the scene. Medic 18 transported the female patient to a
nearby field to meet with the LifeStar helicopter from Georgia. The
woman was transferred without incident, then flown to the Trauma Center
at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah Georgia. The other two patients
were transported by Medic 1 to Colleton Medical Center. The SC Highway
Patrol is investigating the crash. One occupant stated a second vehicle
may have been involved. Engine 10, Engine 15, Medic 1, Medic 18, Car 12 and
Battalion 1 responded. Lt. Rodney Murdaugh served as Incident Commander. |
