02/February/2014 – Fatal MVC – “A” Shift Incident # 14-00673 – A single vehicle, high speed MVC
has left a 58 year old Ravenel man dead. The accident was reported at 17:44
Sunday 02-February. The southbound Chevrolet Impala dropped off of the right
shoulder in a curve on Cooks Hill Road approximately 1.6 miles south of Poor
Farm Road. The car over corrected as it came back on the roadway, spun
around backwards and struck several pine trees on the northbound side of the
road. The small car received massive damage. The unrestrained driver
suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was found deceased at the scene.
Firefighters used Holmatro Rescue Tools to force open the passenger side
rear door to free the driver. The Coroner’s Office transported the man to
the Colleton Medical Center. Traffic on the rural road was closed for
several hours while the Highway Patrol and Coroner’s Office conducted their
investigations of the crash. Engine 12, Medic 6, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Car 12
responded. Chief McRoy served as Incident Commander. |
