11/February/2014 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

Incident # 14-00852 – A residential fire alarm alerted a family to a fire in an upstairs bedroom wall at 1121 Whitehall Road Tuesday evening, 11-February.  Fire-Rescue was notified of the fire alarm at 22:02. While units were responding, the alarm company called back twice advising of a second and then a third alarm activation. Engine 13 arrived to find smoke in the residence and requested a structural response. An 1-3/4 handline was stretched to the front door of the residence. Upon investigation, crews found fire in a wall in an upstairs bedroom. A wood burning stove was used for heat in the room and the heat ignited the wooden wall around the flue. Firefighters removed the wall covering, then used a pressurized water extinguisher to douse the flames. A TIC was utilized in the search for any extension. Damage to the residence was minimal.

Engine 8, Engine 13, Engine 25, Tender 6, Tender 8, Tender 13, Tender 27, Medic 6, Medic 13, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. Firefighter-EMT Dale Kizer served as Incident Commander.
