13/February/2014 – MVC with entrapment – “C” Shift

Incident # 14-00998 – A two car MVC at the intersection of Robertson Blvd and Lyons Street sent five people to the hospital with a variety of traumatic injuries Thursday evening 13-February at 20:13. A Jeep was struck in the passenger side by a GMC Yukon trapping the front seat passenger. First arriving Fire-Rescue units requested two additional ambulances. Crews used Holmatro rescue tools to remove the passenger side door to free the patient. A total of five adults were transported to Colleton Medical Center. One adult male was later transferred by private ambulance to Trident Medical Center in Summerville. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Engine 19, Engine 27, Medic 13, Medic 19, Medic 108, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
