16/February/2014 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift Incident # 14-01063 – At 08:24, Sunday morning
16-February, a Taylor Street home received moderate damage after a wood
burning stove ignited a wall on fire. Engine 1 arrived at 8 Taylor Street to
find smoke coming the single story wood frame dwelling. Firefighters
deployed one 1-3/4 handline to the front door and found fire extending up
the living room wall into the attic. The occupant was still inside the home.
Crews had the 80 year old man exit the building and quickly extinguished the
flames. A PPV fan was used to force the smoke from the home. The fire
started in the wall around the area of the flue. It caused damage to the
wall and attic above the living room. The remainder of the home and personal
items were saved. Crews were on the scene for approximately 45 minutes. No
injuries were reported. Engine 1, Engine 27, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 26,
Tender 27, Medic 1, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Ben
Heape served as Incident Commander. |
