16/February/2014 – High Speed MVC with Air Evac – “C” Shift

Incident # 14-01077 – A 33 year old woman received critical injuries in a high speed accident in the 25000 block of Augusta Highway, just west of Huckleberry Hill Lane. The Nissan passenger car appeared to have left the roadway, over corrected and then went down an embankment. The car flipped end over end at least five times receiving heavy damage. The woman suffered multiple traumatic injuries. First arriving Firefighter-Paramedics called for a medical helicopter and a second ambulance for the other woman in the car. Crewmembers treated the woman on the scene, then transported her to a nearby field to meet with LifeNet 4. The patient required advanced airway management and RSI prior to transport. She was then moved to the helicopter and flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC. The other patient was transported by Medic 19 to Colleton Medical Center. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 9, Engine 36, Medic 9, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Lt. Andy Salhman served as Incident Commander.
