23/February/2014 – Shooting Incident – “A” Shift

Incident # 14-01256 – A 50 year old man was in critical condition following a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. Firefighter-Paramedics were notified of the incident on Dantzler Lane at 14:38 on Sunday, 23-February. Crewmembers found the man lying on the ground and began treating is injuries. Wound care, airway management, dual IVs and immobilization were initiated at the scene. The patient was rapidly transported to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with LifeNet 4, who is stationed there. He was transferred to the flight crew without incident, then flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case.
