06/April/2014 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift Incident # 14-02042 – A one story workshop was heavily
damaged in a mid-afternoon fire at 210 Oxford Road, Sunday 06-April. Several
callers reported the fire at 17:14. Responding firefighters could see a
column of thick black smoke from two miles away. First arriving units found
a single story wood frame shop with an attached awning well involved. A
second wooden structure near the building was also smoking. Firefighters
deployed multiple handlines, initially protecting the second building, until
additional crews began attacking the well involved structure. Units quickly
knocked down the fire, but were on the scene for several hours performing
overhaul. Water supply was handled with a Tender shuttle. The cause is
believed to have been electrical in nature. Engine 19, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 26,
Tender 27, Medic 19, Medic 26 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Dan
Barb served as Incident Commander. |
