10/May/2014 – MVC with Traumatic Injury – “B” Shift A single car MVC sent a 44 year old woman to Colleton
Medical Center Saturday afternoon 10-May. At 17:29, 9-1-1 was notified of an
over-turned vehicle with entrapment in the 200 block of Wichman Street. The
east bound small SUV lost control and struck a large oak tree before rolling
on to the passenger side. The female driver was unconscious, but was still
seat belted in the driver’s seat. Several bystanders pulled the injured
woman from the car before emergency personnel arrived.
Firefighter-Paramedics found the woman unconscious on the ground several
feet from the car. She received several non-life threatening traumatic
injuries. It is believed she may have suffered a medical emergency prior to
the accident. She was treated at the scene, then rapidly transported by
Medic 1 to Colleton Medical Center. Medic 1, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Walterboro
Public Safety Units responded. Firefighter-Paramedic (Acting Battalion
Chief) Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander. |
