|  | 14/May/2014 – High Speed MVC with Air Evac – “C” Shift Incident # 14-02947 – A 62 year old Florida woman 
	received critical traumatic injuries in a single car crash on I-95 near the 
	48 mile marker northbound Wednesday afternoon 14-May at 17:06. It appeared 
	the car went off of the right shoulder, then over-corrected before entering 
	the median and striking the cable barrier at a high rate of speed. The small 
	car received heavy damage. The occupant of the car suffered multiple 
	traumatic injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics requested a medical helicopter, 
	then used the Holmatro Rescue Tools from Engine 13 to remove two doors from 
	the vehicle to access the patient. She was immobilized and extricated from 
	the Hyundai Accent with full spinal precautions. Her condition rapidly 
	deteriorated on scene. LifeNet 4 arrived quickly and made a scene landing 
	approximately 1/8 mile north of the accident. Northbound traffic was stopped 
	while the helicopter was on the ground. The patient was transferred to the 
	flight crew without incident and flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in 
	Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Sheriff’s 
	Deputies assisted with traffic as cars backed up four miles.
	 Engine 13, Medic 13, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. 
	Firefighter-EMT Marshall Murdaugh served as Incident Commander.  |
