21/June/2014 – Annual Softball Tournament

The Third Annual Emergency Services Softball Tournament was held Saturday, 21-June-2014 at the Colleton County Recreation Center.  The tournament, which was originally scheduled for March, saw seven teams play through the high temperatures with a heat index reaching 108 degrees. The tournament began at 09:00 and last until 23:00 Saturday evening.  The Highway Patrol/Dorchester County Fire team took the championship by one run from St. John's Fire Rescue.  Other teams competing in the tournament were:  Ashley River Fire Rescue, Burton Fire District, Colleton County Fire Rescue, Jasper County Fire Rescue and Mt. Pleasant Fire Department.  A total of just over $1,500 was raised and will be split between the MUSC Burned Children's Fund and Carolina Children's Charity.
