08/August/2014 – MVC with Air Evac – “A” Shift

Incident # 14-04659 – An adult male received multiple traumatic injuries when his Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a passenger car at the intersection of ACE Basin Parkway (US Hwy. 17) and Ivenia Brown Road Friday morning 8-Aug at 06:01. Medic 6 arrived five minutes later and requested a medical helicopter as they began treating the man. Firefighter-Paramedics performed advanced airway techniques to assist the patient’s breathing. The driver of the car was not injured. Traffic on ACE Basin Parkway was down to one lane until the helicopter arrived, then the southbound lanes were closed for 20 minutes. LifeNet 4 made a scene landing on the highway south of the accident.  The man was flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 2, Medic 6, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 107 responded. Asst. Chief Marty Stallings served as Incident Commander.
