03/September/2014 – Traumatic Injury with Air Evac – “C” Shift

Incident # 14-05216 – A deer hunter was severely injured after falling approximately 20 feet from a deer stand Wednesday morning 03-September. At 07:34 Fire-Rescue was notified of the incident off of Lodge Highway (SC Hwy 217) near Lumber Road (SC Hwy 362). Engine 7 and Medic 18 arrived near the location and was taken by 4x4 pickup truck approximately one mile into the woods. The final part of the trek was made in a golf cart to reach the patient. The adult male suffered multiple traumatic injuries. He was immobilized and treated at the site, then loaded onto the gold cart and transported out to the pickup truck. He was then transported through the woods in the pickup truck until they reached the ambulance. A medical helicopter was contact and responded to a field near the location off of Lumber Road. The patient was transferred to LifeNet 4 and flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston.

Engine 7, Engine 18, Medic 18 and Car 119 responded. Battalion Chief Joseph Campbell served as Incident Commander.
