13/Sept/2014 – MVC with Entrapment – “B” Shift Incident # 14-05432 – Two people were injured in a
head-on collision in the 14000 block of Cottageville Highway Saturday
evening 13-Sept at 21:32. The two passenger cars collided in the west bound
lane on the dark rainy stretch of rural highway. The driver of a Pontiac
Grand Am was entrapment. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived to find the highway
littered with debris and a Mercedes convertible blocking the highway. The
Grand Am was off on the shoulder. Medic 9 requested one additional
ambulance. Crews used Holmatro Rescue Tools to extricate the driver of the
Grand Am. She suffered only minor injuries. The driver of the Mercedes
suffered severe leg injuries. Both patients received treatment at the scene
and were transported to Colleton Medical Center. The driver of the Mercedes
was transferred by private ambulance to the Trauma Center at MUSC shortly
after arrival at CMC. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Engine 9, Engine 19, Medic 9, Medic 19, Rescue 1,
Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Lt. Jimmy Jacques served as Incident
