24/October/2014 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 14-06235 – At 07:16 Friday morning 24-October, Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at 18033 Round O Road. Engine 19 arrived to find light smoke coming from the eaves of the doublewide mobile. According the caller, coals from the fire place had been put on the back porch the evening before. The coals evidently ignited the back exterior wall of the residence spreading into the void space over the utility room. The homeowner extinguished some of the fire on the outside of the structure prior to Engine 19’s arrivals. Firefighters deployed one 1-3/4 handline and used hand tools to remove the exterior siding. Wood and insulation along the roof line was still smoldering. A portion of the ceiling in the utility room was pulled. There was only minor fire extension inside the home. Crews cleared the void space with the use of Thermal Imagers.

Engine 9, Engine 19, Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 32, Medic 9, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Dan Barb served as Incident Commander.
