24 & 25 / Oct / 2014 – Structure Fires – “A” Shift

Incident # 14-06255 – A fire in the kitchen of a mobile home was possibly started from a small explosion from materials used in a small meth lab located in the residence at 342 Ramsey Hill Road. The incident was reported Friday evening 24-October at 20:04. A neighbor reported hearing a “pop” and noticed smoke coming from the mobile home. He stated that he then saw flames in the area of the kitchen and kicked in the front door. The man advised he used a garden hose to douse the flames on a wooden island separating the kitchen from the living room. Engine 19 arrived to find light smoke coming from the doorway and eaves. Firefighters deployed one 1-3/4 handline and soaked down the smoldering island and kitchen floor. While performing overhaul, crews discovered meth lab materials in the debris and in the kitchen. A Deputy on the scene was notified who called investigators to the scene. Once the smoke was cleared from the residence, the scene was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office. The DEA also responded. The incident is under investigation by Law Enforcement.

Engine 19, Engine 24, Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Dan Barb served as Incident Commander.  

Incident #14-06255 – A fire in a heating unit damaged a doublewide mobile home at 452 Egal Lane Saturday morning 25-October. At 04:53 Fire-Rescue was notified of smoke in the residence. Engine 9 arrived to find no visible exterior signs, but light smoke inside the residence. Upon investigation, firefighters isolated the smoke to the heating unit. Crewmembers crawled under the home to discover the fire had burned the air ducts under the heating unit. The fire was contained to the duct work and heating unit. Crews were on the scene about one hour.  

Engine 9, Engine 36, Tender 5, Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 32, Medic 9, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Dan Barb served as Incident Commander.
