25/November/2014 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 14-06897 – Big G’s Fishing Club, located at 4688 Can City Road, was heavily damaged by a fire Tuesday evening 25-Nov. At 18:01, a neighbor noticed smoke and flames coming from the roof of the one story structure. Engine 26 arrived within minutes to find heavy smoke conditions and flames coming from the roof of the building. The structure was originally a block building, but had several additions. The fire originated in one of the additions where food was left unattended on a stove. The pot of grease ignited and the subsequent fire spread to an adjacent wall and then into the attic space of the addition and the original building. Firefighter-Paramedics quickly knocked down the fire, but had extended overhaul operations due to the building additions. Much of the original building and a rear addition were saved, but the buildings suffered smoke damage. The addition were the fire started was heavily damaged by the fire. Fire-Rescue units were on the scene for five hours. Water supply was conducted with Tenders.

Engine 5, Engine 17, Engine 26, Tender 5, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. Captain Brian Rowe (Acting Battalion Chief) served as Incident Commander.
