28/November/2014 – Hunting Accident with GSW – “C” shift

Incident # 14-06959 – A 17 year old Marietta Ga teenager was injured Friday afternoon 28-November in a hunting accident. The incident was reported at 13:59. He and his party were on an island off of Bennetts Point hunting for deer when he was struck in the chest by what is believed to be buck shot. The pellet struck him in the upper chest, but was stopped when it hit his clavicle (collar bone). An adult drove him by boat to the landing at B&B seafood, then by pickup truck approximately 12 miles to meet Medic 6 on Bennetts Point Road. Other than pain and discomfort, the patient was not suffering from any life threatening injuries. He was transported to Colleton Medical Center for further evaluation. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office and DNR are investigating the incident.

Engine 2, Medic 6 and Car 12 responded. Captain Blaine Harrison served as Incident Commander.
