19/January/2015 – Shooting Incident – “A” Shift Incident # 15-00374 – A 43 year old man was severely
injured in a shooting incident Monday evening 19-Janaury. The incident
occurred at Jelico’s Landing on US Hwy 17-A in Dorchester County at the
Edisto River. The man was reportedly involved in an altercation which
resulted in him being shot in the abdomen and arm with a shotgun. A friend
was transporting him to Colleton Medical Center by private car when they
were stopped by Cottageville Police in the 10000 block of Cottageville Hwy.
(US Hwy 17-A). Officers discovered the injured man and immediately called
Firefighter-Paramedics from Station # 9 in Cottageville. Medic 9 arrived
within minutes and began treating the severely injured man. A medical
helicopter was called and LifeNet 4 responded to the Cottageville Elementary
School on Pearce Road. The man was transported to the school, then
transferred to the Flight Crew. LifeNet 4 flew the patient to the Trauma
Center at MUSC in Charleston. The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office is
investigating the incident.
Engine 9, Medic 9, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118
responded. Lieutenant Jimmy Jacques served as Incident Commander. |
