27/January/2015 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 15-00511 – A family of five were displaced after a fire destroyed their Avalon Drive home, north of Williams Tuesday morning 27-Janaury. At 09:22, several callers to 9-1-1 reported the home was fully involved. Engine 4 arrived at 61 Avalon Drive to find the residence engulfed in flames and a portion of the structures had already collapsed. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed three 1-3/4 handlines. The structure was actually two single wide mobile homes connected with a breezeway. An addition had been added to one of the mobile homes and a second roof was placed over all three buildings. Firefighters spent several hours removing tin from the multiple roofs before they could completely extinguish the fire. The fire appears to have started in the addition at the location of a wood burning stove. Fire units were on the scene for three hours. Water supply was conducted with a Tender Shuttle. The Red Cross is assisting the family.

Engine 4, Engine 18, Tender 1, Tender 7, Tender 18, Tender 26, Tender 90, Medic 18, Medic 26 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
