14/March/2015 – SEFS Cooking Completion
Colleton County Fire Rescue participated in the South Carolina Fire
Academy’s “Southeastern Fire School Smoke and Fire – Cook Off”. Teams were
judged on two categories, Pulled Pork and Chili. Teams began cooking at
08:00 to be judged at 16:30. Ten teams registered but because of poor
weather only five teams participated in the competition. In addition to the
judges the contest included a fan vote for both categories and students
taking classes at Southeastern were able to vote for their favorite.
Colleton County Fire Rescue’s team took 1st place in the Chili
Category and also won fan favorite for the Chili as well. It was a busy but
fun filled day with friendly competition from Fire Departments from all over
the State.
Team members included FFII/Pmdc Mike Bascon, FFII/EMT Justin Benton,
FFII/EMT Brian Bishop, FFII/Pmdc Carla Hill, Captain Roger Johnston, FF
Explorer Jared Law, Mike Bascom’s wife Jamie and Doug Law’s wife Tonya.
