21/March/2015 - High Speed MVC - “B” Shift Incident # 15-01551 – A high speed tractor trailer MVC
sent a 50 year old male to Colleton Medical Center Saturday morning 21-March
at 08:55. The southbound tractor trailer left the roadway on I-95 near the
64 mile marker and entered the woods on the right shoulder causing heavy
damage to the truck. The vehicle struck several pine trees, breaking them
off. The entire load of milk was ejected through the front of the trailer
littering the scene. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived the find the cab covered
with trees. The driver was able to self-extricate and was found in the
wooded area near the cab. He suffered multiple non-life threatening
traumatic injuries. Crews treated his injures at the scene, then transported
him to CMC. Southbound traffic on I-95 was backed up most of the day as
recovery crews removed the vehicle and cleaned up the load of milk. The SC
Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Engine 26, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Car 12
responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander. |
