26/March/2015 – MVC with Traumatic Injuries – “C” Shift

Incident # 15-01637 – A 42 year old man suffered critical injuries following a motorcycle MVC in the 5400 block of Pearce Road north of Cottageville at 02:10, 26-March. A motorist called 9-1-1 reporting that he found the man lying in the middle of the road. A motorcycle was found near the man. Medic 9 arrived to find the man unconscious lying in the middle of the roadway. It appeared the motorcycle had struck a deer. He suffered critical traumatic injuries. A medical helicopter was requested however two helicopters denied the response due to poor weather conditions. The man was treated at the scene and then transported emergent to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. Medic 9 met with another Fire-Rescue unit in Cottageville for an additional Paramedic to assist during transport. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Engine 31, Engine 34, Medic 9, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Firefighter Steven Pelton served as Incident Commander.
