18/April/2015 – Lowcountry Regional Airport Annual Air Show 

The Lowcountry Regional Airport hosted their annual Wings and Wheels air and antique automobile show Saturday 18-April. Despite early morning rain and overcast skies, the event was attended by several thousand spectators. The crowds were treated to vintage aircraft, para-troopers, vintage, modern and experimental aircraft and an antique car show. Stations 19, 27 and LifeNet 4 covered the event with a static display of apparatus and the medical helicopter that were positioned near the runway in the event they were needed.

The Air Show was one of the kickoff events for the Colleton County Rice Festival which started this weekend and runs through Wednesday 29-April. Saturday was packed with events including a bike ride through southern Colleton County, a family bike ride around Walterboro, the March of Dimes walk held at Colleton Medical Center, the Air and Car Show and a community dance held Saturday evening. Other events will be held in the coming week with the festival downtown taking place Friday and Saturday. The fireworks display will be held Friday evening downtown.
