19/April/2015 – Shooting Incident – “C” Shift Incident # 15-02122 – An adult male was killed and two
other people were injured in a shooting incident at the Sportz Center
nightclub located at 2427 Hampton Street Sunday morning 19-April. At 00:52,
Fire-Rescue was notified of the incident advising of a person being shot at
the location. As Firefighter-Paramedics and Law Enforcement arrived at the
establishment, dispatchers advised one victim had arrived that the hospital
by private car. Other Law Enforcement Officers were also sent to the ED.
Crews treated an adult male security officer at the scene. He received a
single gunshot wound and a suspected fracture to the right arm. After
receiving treatment at the scene, the man was transported by Medic 19 to
Colleton Medical Center. An adult female also drove to CMC’s ED with minor
injuries received from broken glass when her car was struck by a bullet in
the parking lot. The hospital staff worked diligently to revive the man who
was brought in by private car, but he succumbed to his injuries less than an
hour after the incident. Engine 19 remained on the scene for several hours
providing lighting for investigators. The Hospital’s ED was placed on
lockdown while Law Enforcement processed the scene at the Emergency
Department entrance. Engine 19, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded.
