16/May/2015 – High Speed MVC – “A” Shift Incident # 15-02646 – A single car high speed MVC on
I-95 sent one man to Colleton Medical Center and snarled northbound traffic
for approximately 45 minutes Saturday evening 16-May. At 19:52, an older
model Oldsmobile Silhouette left the highway at a high rate of speed and
struck a large tree near the 44 mile marker northbound. The minivan became
airborne until it slammed into several other trees 15 feet off the ground.
The van suffered massive damage with the floor in the rear being pushed
almost to the ceiling. A 42 year old male was transported by Medic 13 to CMC
with a non-life threatening head injury. Another male occupant suffered
minor injuries and denied medical attention. The SC Highway Patrol is
investigating the crash. Sheriff’s Deputies assisted at the scene. Engine 13, Medic 13, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded.
