27/May/2015 – MVC with Entrapment & Air Evac – “C” Shift

Incident # 15-02866 – An adult male suffered multiple traumatic injuries in a two vehicle MVC at the intersection of McLeod Road and Pleasant Grove Road Wednesday afternoon 27-May at 11:50. A full sized pickup truck and a delivery van collided in the intersection. The pickup truck then went off of the roadway into the woods. Firefighter-Paramedics found the man semi-conscious and trapped in the wreckage. They began treating the man and used Holmatro Rescue Tools to remove the driver’s side doors. A medical helicopter was placed on standby at Colleton Medical Center. The patient was extricated with full spinal precautions, then rapidly transported to the helipad at CMC to meet with LifeNet 4. The man was flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 26, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
