02/June/2015 – Motorcycle MVC with Air Evac – “C” Shift

Incident # 15-03016 – A 39 year old Colleton County man was critically injured in a motorcycle accident in the 6200 block of Mount Carmel Road Tuesday afternoon 02-June at 15:04. The southbound motorcycle left the roadway and struck a culvert pipe, then became airborne. The driver was ejected from the bike which crashed into a wire fence. The driver was found in a field on the other side of the fence. Fire–Rescue crews found the man in the field with life threatening multiple traumatic injuries. A medical helicopter was called to the scene. While the helicopter was enroute Firefighter-Paramedics performed a lifesaving chest decompression to allow the man to breath. He was quickly transferred to the flight crew who flew him to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Engine 26, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 12, Car 111 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
