19/August/2015 – MVC w Roll Over – “C” Shift Incident # 15-04773 – A 50 yr. old man was seriously
injured when the dump truck he was driving over-turned in the 7200 block of
Round O Road at Harlequin Lane Wednesday morning 19-August at 11:23. The
truck was southbound on Round O Road when the driver advised a north bound
vehicle force him off the road in a curve. The truck dropped off of the
shoulder and lost control while returning to the roadway. The large
International dump truck flipped completely over, spilling its load and
coming to rest on its wheels. The cab suffered heavy damage. The second
vehicle did not remain at the scene. Firefighter-Paramedics found the man
still in the cab, suffering from multiple traumatic injuries. Crews used a
ladder to stabilize the backboard while extricating the driver. He was
rapidly transported to Colleton Medical Center and later transferred to the
Trauma Center at MUSC. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Engine 9, Medic 9, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 12 and
Car 118 responded. Firefighter-EMT Chris Dukes served as Incident Commander. |
