07/October/2015 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift Incident # 15-05813 - A Johnsville residence was
fortunate Wednesday morning 07-October after her home filled with smoke a
little before 07:00. She quickly exited the home and had a neighbor call
9-1-1. Fire-Rescue units arrived within minutes to the residence on the
corner of Strawberry Farm Rd and Community Ave, to find light smoke coming
from the singlewide mobile home. Firefighters deploy one 1-3/4 handline and
discovered the fire in a bathroom near the center of the structure. An
electrical outlet under the bathroom sink had shorted out and begun to burn
inside the wall. The fire burned through the wall and the back of a cabinet.
The flames melted a plastic water line causing water to spray on the burning
wood, which extinguished most the fire and kept it from spreading.
Firefighters removed the cabinet and paneling from the wall to gain access
to the smoldering insulation inside the wall. The fire did not extend beyond
the bathroom. Crews were on the scene for about an hour performing overhaul
and removing smoke from the home. No one was injured during the incident. Engine 7, Engine 18, Tender 4, Tender 7, Tender 17, Tender 23, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 18, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Captains John Graham and Roger Johnston operated the Command Post. Incident Commander. |
