04 and 05 March - Safe Kids Fair – “A” and “C” shifts

The annual Safe Kids Safety Fair was held at the National Guard Armory Friday and Saturday from 09:00 to 13:00. All third grade students were brought to the fair on Friday morning to rotate through the exhibits. It was open to the public on Saturday. The event is sponsored by the Safe Kids Coalition from Colleton Medical Center. Displays included, Colleton County Fire-Rescue, Colleton Medical Center, School Bus Safety, ATV Safety, the Sheriff’s Office, Walterboro Police and Fire Depts, 9-1-1 Communications, Coastal Electric, SCE&G, LifeNet medical helicopter, an animal farm and medical information. New this year was a boating simulator from DNR. The Sheriff’s Office also provided a demonstration of one it’s dogs. Fire-Rescue displayed several pieces of apparatus and Fire-Safety House to help spread the Fire and Life Safety message. Several thousand children attended the Safety Fair. The event is coordinated by Yvonne Penfield from Colleton Medical Center.
