07/March/2016  - High Speed MVC – “C” Shift

Incident # 16-01404 – Three people were injured following a high speed two vehicle MVC in the 3300 block of Sidneys Road Monday evening 07-March at 20:01. A small car traveling south on Sidneys Road lost control and crossed into the oncoming lane striking a large delivery truck head-on. The car spun and went under the truck causing further damage to the small vehicle, then left the roadway and struck a guide wire before stopping in a yard. The northbound truck also left the roadway north of the collision site. The 26 year old female driver of the car suffered multiple non-life threatening injuries. A 3 year old child in the back seat suffered minor injuries, which were contributed to the fact she was secured in a child safety seat. The driver of the truck also suffered minor injuries. His passenger was not hurt and did not require transport to the hospital. Fire-Rescue sent two ambulances to the accident. Initial reports indicated a person was trapped in the wreckage, but firefighters found no one trapped despite the heavy damage to the front and rear of the car. Traffic on Sidneys Road was down to one lane for about an hour. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Colleton County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

Engine 19, Rescue 1, Medic 18, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Scott Feather served as Incident Commander.
