17/May/2016 MVC with Entrapment B Shift Incident # 16-03023 Two adult males were injured in a high speed single car MVC in the 2700 block of Bells Hwy (SC Hwy 64) at Jones Swamp Road Tuesday evening 17-May at 18:55. According to a witness, the east bound Ford pickup truck lost control and flipped over multiple times. The truck came to rest up an embankment on the west bound side of the highway, lying on its roof. Engine 26 arrived to find the passenger on the ground near the road outside of the vehicle. The man crawled to the location following the collision. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries. The driver of the truck was trapped inside the truck with the vehicle resting on his arm. A second Fire-Rescue Ambulance was assigned to the incident. Firefighter-Paramedics began treating the driver while he was still entrapment in the wreckage. The truck was stabilized, then Firefighters used Holmatro Rescue Tools to cut away portions of the doors and a Hydraulic Spreader to lift the truck off of the mans arm. He was extricated with full spinal immobilization and transported to Colleton Medical Center in Medic 26. Medic 19s crew transported the passenger to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical in Summerville. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. |
