19/May/2016 – MVC with ejection – “A” Shift Incident # 16-03065 – A 50 year old Cottageville man
was critically injured in a single car high speed MVC in the 4200 block of
Rehoboth Road (SC Hwy 651) just south of Bazzle Road Thursday afternoon
19-May at 17:12. The southbound 2004 Ford Mustang lost control in a curve,
over corrected and entered the northbound ditch. The car struck a driveway
culvert, became airborne and flipped over at least once. The vehicle struck
a small tree, breaking it in half before coming to rest on its roof. The
driver was partially ejected through the rear window. Firefighter-Paramedics
arrived minutes later to find the unconscious man face down on the ground.
Crews immediately began treatment which included RSI to secure his airway.
He was rapidly transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in
Summerville by Fire-Rescue Medic 9. Additional Firefighter-Paramedics
assisted with patient care during transport. The SC Highway Patrol is
investigating the crash. Engine 9, Medic 9, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Car 12
responded. Firefighter-EMT-I Brad Welch served as Incident Commander. |
