28/August/2016 – MVC with entrapment – “C” Shift Incident # 16-05648 – Two adults and two teenagers were
transported to the hospital following a two vehicle MVC at the intersection
of Jefferies Highway (US Hwy 15) and Robertson Blvd (SC Hwy 64) Sunday
evening 28-August at 19:51. A Mazda and Honda SUV collided in the
intersection causing the Honda to over-turn. Firefighters found the Honda on
its roof, blocking the two west bound lanes of Robertson Blvd. Both
restrained adults were hanging upside down from their seats, complaining of
various injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics were able to force open the
passenger side and rear door to gain access to the patients. Both were
carefully extricated with spinal precautions, then transported to Colleton
Medical Center for further treatment. Two teenagers in the Mazda were also
transported for evaluation. The busy intersection was blocked for nearly an
hour until the wreckage could be cleared. Walterboro Police are
investigating the crash. Medic 19, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Car 12
responded. Walterboro Fire Engine 1 also responded. Battalion Chief Ben
Heape served as Incident Commander. |
