08/September/2016 – Fatal MVC – “B” Shift

Incident # 16-05933 – A Charleston man died from multiple traumatic injuries after his vehicle struck a large pine tree at a high rate of speed. The accident occurred at the intersection of Peirce Road and Red Oak Road north of the Town of Cottageville on a rural secondary road Thursday evening 08-September. Evidence at the scene indicated the 2006 Pontiac G6 had possibly struck an animal just prior to the collision. The car proceeded through the “T” intersection, missing the stop sign and struck the tree head-on. The unrestrained driver was found unconscious and not breathing by another motorist who called 9-1-1 at 21:26. It is unknown how long the vehicle had been at the location. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived minutes later, but the man had no signs of life. The SC Highway Patrol and the Colleton County Coroner’s Office are investigating the crash.

Engine 9, Medic 9, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Captain Blaine Harrison served as Incident Commander.
