11/September/2016 – High Speed MVC – “B” Shift Incident # 16-05994 – A 30 year old male suffered
multiple traumatic injuries in a two car head-on collision at the
intersection of Bells Highway (SC Hwy 64) and Confederate Highway (SC Hwy
641) Sunday afternoon 11-Sept at 15:51. The accident occurred during a
thunderstorm which caused limited visibility. Medic 18 and Engine 23 arrived
to find two vehicles with heavy damage blocking Bells Highway. The 30 yr old
driver of a Ford Ranger Pickup received life threatening injuries. A second
ambulance was requested for two patients in a Buick Enclave who received
minor injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics stabilized the 30 yr old male and
transported him emergent to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical in
Summerville. The patients in the Enclave denied transport to the hospital.
Traffic at the intersection was rerouted for an hour. The SC Highway Patrol
is investigating the accident. Engine 23, Medic 14, Medic 18, Rescue 1, Battalion 1,
Car 12, Car 116 and Car 119 responded. Capt. Doug Mixson Jr. served as
Incident Commander. |
