20/September/2016 – HazMat Gas Leak – “B” Shift

Incident # 16-06202 – A construction crew accidently broke a gas line while working on improvements to the intersection of Mount Carmel Road and Bells Hwy. The incident occurred Tuesday morning 20-Sept at 09:45 in the 100 block of Mount Carmel Road. A strong gas odor was present in the vicinity. SCE&G Gas crews responded to the incident and secured the line. No injuries were reported. Traffic on Mount Carmel between Bells Highway and Quail Drive was closed until the gas leak was secured. Firefighter-Paramedics stood by while SCE&G personnel crimped the line. Walterboro Police and Sheriff’s Deputies handled traffic control.

Engine 19, HazMat 19, Medic 19, Car 12, Car 105 and Car 116 responded. Deputy Chief Greene served as Incident Commander.
