09/October/2016 – Hurricane Matthew Recovery

Colleton residents are still clearing debris and coping with a second day of no electricity. Many private residents, logging companies, Private Contractors and DOT crews have working diligently to clear the roadways. Power crews were out in force repairing damage lines. Edisto Town employees and Town Officials returned to the island to find a mess. Palmetto Blvd is covered with nearly four feet of sand and the back portion of the island suffered several feet of flooding. Wind damage was rampant. Multiple crews including the National Guard are assisting. There is no power and residents are not supposed to be allowed back on the island until later in the week.
